A leading AI research initiative, in partnership with Mercor, is seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers to contribute to a frontier project advancing the capabilities of next-generation AI systems.
In this role, you will apply your technical and analytical expertise to design, evaluate, and benchmark AI reasoning across real-world mechanical engineering workflows. Your insights will help ensure model accuracy, technical depth, and engineering precision across a variety of subdomains.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and assess complex mechanical engineering problems across design, thermodynamics, and applied mechanics.
- Evaluate AI-generated responses for conceptual accuracy, technical rigor, and real-world applicability.
- Provide clear, structured feedback on engineering problem sets, designs, and computational reasoning.
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and engineers to enhance model understanding and output quality.
- Ensure scientific and technical accuracy in all content used to train or evaluate AI systems.
Ideal Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills across mechanical systems, modeling, and simulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Prior experience in engineering research, academia, or technical consulting is a plus.
- Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, CAD, or simulation tools is advantageous but not required.
Project Details
- Start Date: Immediate
- Duration: 1–2 months (potential for extension)
- Commitment: Part-time (~20 hours/week, versatile up to 40 hours/week)
- Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — flexible working hours.
Compensation & Contract
- Rate: $65–$80 USD/hour (based on experience).
- Type: Independent contractor.
- Payments: Daily via Stripe Connect.
