About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Occupational Health and Safety to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and expertise to enhance the organization's OHS programs and training. This hands-on role involves working closely with the OHS Manager to develop proactive safety policies, tools, and systems that are not only compliant but also industry-leading. The Head of OHS will be a passionate advocate for safety, regularly present in the field, and will champion a solid safety culture where safety is a shared responsibility. Key responsibilities include ensuring regulatory compliance, serving as a trusted advisor to senior management, leading safety audits,
and developing the company's OHS training and competency strategy.
Applicants for the Head of Occupational Health and Safety position at the company should have a degree or diploma in a related field, a minimum of 10 years' progressive safety leadership experience, and a professional designation such as CRSP, CHSC, NCSO, or equivalent. The role requires a strong understanding of OHS legislation, governance systems, and operational risk management, as well as excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building strong relationships, influencing change, and making decisions during emergencies.
