Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Greenhouse Grower to join our team. The Greenhouse Grower is responsible for providing horticultural expertise and guidance to support the propagation, cultivation, and care of plants in a greenhouse setting. Working closely with the Coordinator, this position ensures plants are maintained at optimal health throughout the growing cycle and are prepared for sale during peak seasons.

The Greenhouse Grower develops and implements growing schedules, monitors plant health, and applies best practices to maximize quality and productivity. This role identifies production challenges, implements appropriate corrective actions, and ensures production targets are met according to established quality standards and timelines. The successful candidate is committed to delivering high‑quality products and exceptional customer service.

Duties

- Determine proper techniques, timelines, required pretreatments, suitable growing media, and/or any other specialized requirements in preparation for planting and/or propagation
- Develop an annual growing schedule to be followed throughout the year
- Assist and advise the Coordinator in the development of a Greenhouse annual budget and manage it effectively throughout the year
- Advise the Coordinator on irrigation, weeding, fertilizing, sanitation, and pest control to ensure optimal plant health
- Perform regular pest,



disease and mortality checks and provide urgent response when required
- Continuously monitor and actively manage plant growth and wellbeing to achieve the highest quality standards
- Lead all aspects of the greenhouse’s daily production activities, including harvest floor support, watering, grading, and general plant care
- Assist the Coordinator by ensuring direct service staff, production staff, and volunteers are trained to horticultural expectations and seek to improve competence and skillsets

Qualifications

- Two‑year diploma in Horticulture or Agriculture and a minimum of 1 year of work experience
- Police Information Check that does not disqualify you from employment
- Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of basic office applications
- Class 5 driver’s licence and 2‑million‑dollar liability insurance on a personal vehicle

Physical Demands

- Standing, sitting, crouching and walking for extended periods of time; must be able to perform medium work as defined by WCB (exerting up to 22.7 kg of force occasionally, up to 9.1 kg frequently, and up to 4.5 kg constantly)
- Able to work in a greenhouse environment year‑round, tolerating heat during summer months

Compensation

Wage range: $25.97 – $30.37 (dependent on education/experience)
