Responsibilities
- Assisting with activities of daily living, including recreation activity, physical activity, and techniques to help standing.
- Helping with transferring and moving around the house, which is essential for a senior with mobility challenges.
- Reminding of taking medications on time, organizing pills, or administering medications as prescribed.
- Observing changes in physical or mental health and reporting to family or physicians, including checking blood pressure or managing chronic conditions and clearly communicating with family members and doctors.
- Preparing meals that meet dietary restrictions, assisting with feeding, and helping with grocery shopping.
- Performing light housekeeping duties if necessary.
- Accompanying the senior to doctor appointments, pharmacy visits, social events,
and dining outs when required.
- Providing companionship, encouraging hobbies, engaging in conversation, and reducing loneliness.
- Ensuring a protected environment to prevent falls or accidents, especially for seniors with dementia or cognitive impairments.
- Regularly communicating with the senior’s family members and sharing observations of any changes or events.
Requirements
- Education: Completion of Secondary.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of related working experience, or experience is an asset for candidates who have completed training in related fields such as elder care, disability support, or convalescent care.
- First Aid Certificate and Criminal Record check are required.
