The National Council of Canadian Muslims (NCCM) has a new opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our professional staff and work on issuesimpactingCanadian Muslim communities.

At the centre of our vibrant and dynamic communities, NCCM is a national, independent, non-partisan and non-profit advocacy organization at the forefront of defending,promotingand protecting the fundamental rights and public interests of Canadian Muslims.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Mobilization Officer, the Regional Lead is responsible for building and maintaining NCCM’s presence within their region.

The Regional Lead will work directly with masajid, community organizations, schools, institutions, volunteers, community leaders, and supporters to strengthen NCCM’s relationship with the community and ensure NCCM remains visible, accessible, and engaged.

This role is primarily community-facing. The successful candidate should expect to spend the majority of their time in the community attending events, visiting masajid, meeting with institutions, managing volunteers, building relationships, and representing NCCM throughout their region.

The Regional Lead will serve as an ambassador for NCCM and help connect local communities with the organization’s advocacy, legal, education, communications, and community safety work.

Position: Edmonton Regional Lead

Type: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Edmonton

Expected hours of work: Monday to Friday, full time (required to work some evenings, weekends, and holidays)

Compensation: Commensurate with experience & qualifications. This position is eligible to enroll in NCCM’s pension and benefits program.





Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain strong relationships with masajid, community organizations, schools, institutions, volunteers, donors, and community leaders throughout the region.
- Coordinate community outreach efforts including masjid visits, community events, institutional meetings, presentations, speaker tours, and other engagement opportunities.
- Represent NCCM at community events, meetings, conferences, and public gatherings.
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers to strengthen NCCM’s presence throughout the region.
- Build and maintain a regional volunteer network capable of supporting campaigns, events, outreach activities, and community initiatives.
- Support the growth of NCCM’s email list and supporter base through community engagement activities.
- Coordinate one regional community event per quarter in partnership with the Development team.
- Support local mobilization efforts related to advocacy campaigns, community safety concerns, public policy issues, and emergency response initiatives.
- Assist with the development and growth of NCCM’s Masjid Network Program within the region.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, relationships, volunteer engagement, and community contacts through NCCM’s CRM and tracking systems.




- Participate in internal meetings and training opportunities to remain informed about NCCM’s ongoing work and priorities.
- Provide regular updates to the Chief Mobilization Officer regarding regional opportunities, challenges, and community concerns.
- Continue to improve job-related skills through training, workshops, seminars, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree with 1-2 years of fundraising, community engagement & leadership experience
- University degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience in community engagement, volunteer management, advocacy, organizing, fundraising, public outreach, or related fields is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders and community partners.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects and responsibilities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in community settings and build trust with community members.
- Solid understanding of NCCM’s mission and mandate.
- Willingness to learn and develop a strong understanding of NCCM’s advocacy, legal, education, communications, and community safety work.
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, CRM databases, and project management platforms is considered an asset.
- This position requires evening and weekend work on a regular basis.
