Position Overview
The Community Evaluator plays a critical role in advancing livability in Canmore by collecting, analyzing, and reporting on key indicators that reflect the well-being of the community. This position supports evidence-based decision-making and fosters collaboration across sectors by providing timely, relevant, and actionable data. The Community Evaluator’s work informs strategic planning, program evaluation, and resource allocation to ensure that community needs are effectively met. The Community Evaluator is responsible for coordination of community social programs. Functions include program development, planning, implementation and evaluation, partnership development, networking, group presentation, client support, and relevant Town of Canmore administrative tasks.
Core Accountabilities
Data Collection and Community Assessment
- Collect quantitative and qualitative data from multiple community sources to identify trends and gaps in livability
- Conduct community needs assessments and surveys to understand local priorities and challenges
- Establish and maintain relationships with interest holders to gather comprehensive information
- Organize data collection processes that are systematic, accessible, and respectful of community members
Analysis and Reporting
- Analyze collected data using statistical methods and indicators to identify patterns and insights
- Translate complex information into clear, accessible reports and visualizations for diverse audiences
- Present findings to municipal leadership, community groups, and interest holders in professional formats
- Document methodologies and results to support evidence-based decision-making
Community Engagement and Collaboration
- Identify, create, and lead community-focused working groups to address livability priorities
- Foster collaborative partnerships across sectors to strengthen data collection and program evaluation efforts
- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to stakeholders with varied levels of technical understanding
- Build trust and connection with diverse community members through respectful and inclusive engagement
- Coordinate, lead, and evaluate public-serving social programs
Technology and Platform Management
- Utilize web-based platforms and mapping software (e.g., ArcGIS) to organize and visualize community data
- Maintain databases and information systems to ensure accuracy and accessibility of community indicators
- Stay current with relevant technology and evaluation tools to enhance reporting capabilities
Strategic Support and Planning
- Provide timely and actionable data to inform strategic planning, program evaluation, and resource allocation
- Support municipal departments in understanding community needs and measuring program effectiveness
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while adapting to changing community needs and organizational demands
Health and Safety
- Fulfill worker responsibilities under the Town of Canmore Health & Safety Directive
- Participate in the Town's health and safety program, following all safety legislation, policies, and procedures
- Perform work safely and protect the health and safety of self and others
- Refrain from causing or participating in harassment or violence
- Report incidents, injuries, and unsafe or harmful worksites, acts, or conditions
