About the Role

The Company is in search of a strategic and values-driven Managing Director of Finance & Accounting (MDFA) to join its senior leadership team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the financial health, sustainability, and risk management of a complex, multi-entity real estate portfolio. This role is pivotal in advancing the company's mission to deliver and sustain permanently affordable housing. The MDFA will provide enterprise-wide financial leadership, shape strategic decisions, lead financing and capital planning, and ensure strong governance and reporting. Key requirements for the position include a CPA designation, a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, and over 10 years of progressive senior leadership experience in finance or accounting, preferably in real estate or other asset-heavy environments.





The ideal candidate for the MDFA position at the company will have a cooperative and strategic leadership style, with the ability to influence at the executive and board level. Deep expertise in financial planning, reporting, controls, and compliance is essential, as is a strong knowledge of financing structures, debt management, and risk oversight. Experience in non-profit, co-operative, or public-interest organizations is an asset. The role demands a leader who can translate complex financial data into clear, strategic insights and who is adept at building relationships with lenders, funders, and partners to enable long-term community impact. A background in real estate, housing, development, construction, or property management is also a key requirement, and experience with enterprise systems such as Yardi is considered an asset.
