About the Role

The Company is in search of a Trustee Nominee to represent its non-unionized university employee members on the University Pension Plan (UPP) Board of Trustees. This pivotal governance role demands an exceptional leader with a solid understanding of the university sector, including its unique governance, operational, and stakeholder considerations. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with complex decision-making, possess a strategic and future-focused mindset, and demonstrate the financial acumen necessary to contribute to the UPP's growth and evolution.



A passion for championing the interests of non-unionized university employees and a commitment to ensuring diverse voices are heard in the advancement of the organization's goals are essential.

Candidates for this role should be prepared to make a significant impact, bringing integrity, independence, and sound judgment to the Board. The position requires a time commitment of 80-100 hours annually and is suited to individuals with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, capable of earning trust and influencing stakeholders through collaboration. Future-focused leadership, with the ability to address emerging trends, technology, and workforce change, is also a key attribute. The Trustee Nominee will be at the forefront of shaping the future of retirement security, pension governance, and employee representation within the post-secondary sector, and as such, must be ready to take on the responsibility of fiduciary oversight and be a champion for the interests of the non-unionized university employee community.
