Position Summary

BCIT’s Interior Design Department is recruiting for temporary part‑time Instructors. BCIT requires individuals to fill temporary, part‑time Instructional positions for delivery of Flexible Learning courses on a term‑by‑term basis in our Interior Design, Flexible Learning Programs.

BCIT Flexible Learning runs three terms in twelve week blocks: September to December, January to March, and April to June, as well as a summer term from July to August.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Instruct and help students learn.
- Provide academic assistance in a variety of learning situations.
- Facilitate and maintain creative and positive learning environments.
- Develop, modify, and continuously improve course outlines, curricula, evaluation procedures, and instruments.
- Prepare and maintain all course‑related records including evaluation, attendance records, and submit information as required.
- Identify, prepare and organize course materials and learning resources for course delivery.

Qualifications

- Relevant diploma or degree in Interior Design or related field.
- Minimum five years of related current experience, with practical knowledge and experience in the residential (kitchen and bath) design field.
- NKBA membership eligibility and Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer (AKBA) Certification an asset.
- Certified Kitchen & Bath Designer (CKBD) Certification an asset.
- Hands on experience with Chief Architect would be an asset.
- Hands‑on AutoCad experience would be an asset.
- Hands‑on experience with Sketch up, Photoshop and InDesign would be an asset.




- Excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work within, and develop, a collegial environment.
- Previous teaching experience or formal instructor training (PIO, ISW, PIDP) would be an asset.
- Flexible availability.
