About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director for Legal and Advocacy. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and operational oversight to ensure the delivery of quality programs, enhancing the organization's impact and reach, and leading the fund development strategy. This role requires a strong focus on systemic advocacy for gender justice, rooted in relationship-building and sustained community engagement. The Executive Director will work closely with the Board of Directors to align with the strategic direction, and with the Director of Strategic Operations to manage team oversight, financial management, and administrative operations. Additionally, the role involves advancing community, government,
and sector relations to build capacity and funding in line with the organization's mission and strategic priorities.
Applicants for the Executive Director position should have a deep commitment to the values of the organization, including a focus on the most impacted and marginalized by systems of injustice and oppression. The role demands a leader with a proven track record in legal and advocacy work, particularly in the areas of gender justice, and a strong understanding of the legal issues affecting the community. The ideal candidate will have experience in team leadership, financial management, and a strategic approach to fund development. A background in law, social justice, or a related field is essential, and a graduate degree in a relevant discipline is preferred. The Executive Director must be adept at building and maintaining relationships, both within the organization and with external stakeholders, and be able to work effectively in a team-oriented, governance-focused environment.
