Salary: $23.75 to $25.00 per hour (to be negotiated)
Hours: 30 to 40 hours per week (full-time, permanent employment)
Shift: Early morning, evening, night, weekend, flexible – starts as soon as possible. Work must be completed on site; no remote option.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high‑quality sushi, sashimi, nigiri, maki, and specialty rolls.
- Supervise and train sushi cooks and junior sushi staff.
- Maintain sushi bar inventory, rotate stock for freshness and safety.
- Inspect fish quality and ensure proper storage.
- Assist the Executive Chef with menu items and seasonal features.
- Maintain presentation standards and consistency.
- Record food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory; analyze operating costs and other data.
- Demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to cooking staff.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies.
- Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards.
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances.
Qualifications
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- 2 to 3 years of sushi preparation experience.
- Proficiency in sushi preparation techniques.
Physical Requirements
- Physically demanding work, including sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
