Leisure Park Monitors are responsible for supervising park and recreation spaces to ensure the safety and well-being of all visitors. This includes maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment, enforcing facility rules, and providing excellent customer service.

This role involves daily interaction with children, youth, and families. Staff are expected to build positive relationships with visitors while supporting general program operations and completing basic administrative tasks such as tracking attendance, documenting incidents, and setting up park-specific features.

Specific End Results and Responsibilities

Positive Interactions

- Build positive relationships with park visitors
- Greet and engage with all guests
- Remain approachable and accessible
- Provide accurate facility information or direct guests appropriately
- Act as a positive role model for children and youth

Park / Facility Supervision

- Daily setup of park fixtures.
- Inform visitors of park and facility rules
- Monitor activities to promote safety and appropriate behavior
- Identify hazards or damaged equipment and report concerns
- Respond appropriately to incidents and first aid situations
- Document incidents and relevant information as required

Safe and Clean Environment





- Maintain cleanliness before, during, and after shifts
- Encourage guests to clean up after themselves
- Conduct routine inspections of park areas and equipment
- Lead by example in maintaining a safe and respectful space

- Manager of Children & Youth
- Children & Youth Programmer – Youth Experience & Events

Education and Experience

Education

- High School (preferred)

Experience

- 1–2 years working with children, youth, or in a recreational/customer service environment preferred

Skills and Competencies

- Current Intermediate First Aid (CSA Standard or equivalent)
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
- Ability to work independently
- Solid customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to engage positively with children, youth, and adults
- Conflict resolution skills and awareness of risk management practices

Working Conditions

- Ability to work in a noisy, active workplace
- Outdoor work in variable weather conditions
- Ability to lift 20–50 lbs
- Evening and weekend availability required
- Position requires in office presence (no remote work)
