At Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS), we support Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and their families with programs that enhance mental, social, physical, financial and familial well‑being. Our services include recreation, sports, fitness, financial assistance, retail benefits, family support and charity events.
The Role
The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard provides quality leisure programs and ensures the safety of military members and their families. Responsibilities include delivering swimming lessons, supervising pool use, preventing accidents, enforcing safety rules, and designing activities for specific groups such as seniors or children. The position requires a commitment to safety, robust communication, and the ability to motivate participants.
Qualifications Needed
Education, Certifications and Licenses
- Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
- Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
- Current recognized Swim Instructor certification
- Completion of HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport by the end of probation
- Completion of HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children by the end of probation
Experience
- Experience dealing with the public, including children
- Experience performing lifeguard duties
- Experience implementing training and practice sessions
- Experience developing and implementing individual training plans
- Experience in cash handling

Other Information
- Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg)
- High degree of focus required
- Successful candidate must complete a Vulnerable Sector Check
- On‑site position with an assigned work location
