Position: Maintenance Manager – Oakville, Ontario

Employment Type: Full‑time, permanent (on‑site)

Overview

The Maintenance Manager leads all maintenance activities within a dynamic environment that includes a food manufacturing plant, chemical storage facility, and distribution warehouse. The role ensures equipment, infrastructure, security systems, and safety‑critical assets operate reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable environmental, food safety, and regulatory standards. The manager reports to the Director of Operations – Canada and provides guidance to maintenance coordinators across multiple sites.

Responsibilities

- Plan, schedule, and oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for warehouse equipment (pumps, conveyors, HVAC, forklifts, racking, fire protection systems).
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and facility‑related issues to minimize downtime.
- Develop and manage the site’s maintenance program, including SOPs, CMMS, maintenance logs, inspections, and equipment history.
- Serve as a technical subject‑matter expert for powdered blenders and packaging lines in a food environment.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards (WHMIS, OSHA, environmental, NFPA, FDA, CFIA, GMP, HACCP, SQF/BRC/FSSC 22000).
- Maintain hygienic maintenance practices aligned with food safety requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections of safety systems (spill containment, ventilation, eyewash stations, emergency alarms).
- Lead corrective actions and support investigations following safety audits or equipment‑related incidents.
- Manage high‑quality work from external contractors and ensure adherence to internal safety protocols.
- Provide training and coaching on equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance best practices.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Operations, Health & Safety, Quality, and Commercial teams.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and drive resolution of recurring issues.




- Act as a subject‑matter expert for Maintenance Coordinators across sites.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure critical components are available for emergency repairs.
- Contribute to multi‑year capital planning by identifying equipment nearing end‑of‑life and recommending replacements or upgrades.
- Analyze failure trends and implement process improvements to enhance equipment reliability and warehouse efficiency.
- Optimize maintenance workflows and support the implementation of digital maintenance systems (CMMS).
- Monitor and analyze KPIs (Downtime, MTBF, MTTR, PM compliance) to improve reliability.
- Lead automation projects to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent trade background).
- 10+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment; food or chemicals experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing maintenance operations in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage external contractors in a multi‑site environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and industrial systems (HVAC, conveyors, pumps, forklifts, etc.).
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs and CMMS.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Knowledge of chemical storage regulations and safe handling practices.
- Understanding of hygienic design and sanitary maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with automation and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, TPM).




- Experience with powdered handling, blending, or packaging equipment is a strong asset.
- Strong leadership, problem‑solving, communication, and decision‑making skills.
- High attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work collaboratively across departments.
- Organized, hands‑on, and able to prioritize in a fast‑paced environment.

Working Conditions

- Warehouse and manufacturing workplace with exposure to chemicals, fumes, and industrial noise.
- Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict safety protocols.
- Availability for on‑call and after‑hours support as needed for emergencies or projects.
- Full‑time, onsite role based at the Oakville facility.

Compensation

The annual base salary for this position is expected to range between $88,100.00 and $148,625.00. This base salary range is provided for reference purposes only. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as job‑related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary represents just one component of our overall compensation package. This role is also eligible for a generous incentive program and comprehensive benefits. Final base salary will be aligned with the selected candidate’s qualifications, skill set, competencies, and work location.
