We are hiring a
Senior Systems Testing/QA Specialist
to support large-scale digital health initiatives for Supply Ontario. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, executing, and leading advanced performance, automation, and quality assurance testing activities for complex web-based applications and enterprise systems.
This role requires strong expertise in
performance engineering, JMeter automation, cloud infrastructure, application monitoring, database analysis, CI/CD testing integration, and QA best practices . The ideal candidate will have senior-level experience working across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and large-scale technology environments.

Position Overview Supply Ontario is seeking a highly experienced
Systems Testing/QA Specialist – Senior
to support quality assurance and performance testing initiatives related to digital communication channels for cancer screening correspondence. This initiative supports Ontario’s Digital First for Health Strategy by enabling digital communication options for Ontarians.
The successful candidate will design and execute comprehensive testing strategies, develop automation frameworks, identify system bottlenecks, validate performance under high-volume conditions, and collaborate with development, DevOps, project management, business, and clinical teams.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Testing Strategy & Framework Development (40%)
Architect, design, and scale modular, reusable JMeter-based performance testing frameworks for complex business workflows.
Develop advanced load, stress, endurance, scalability, and failover testing scenarios that replicate production traffic patterns.
Design performance testing approaches for distributed enterprise applications.
Analyze system performance issues including:
Memory leaks
Thread contention
Application bottlenecks
Infrastructure limitations
Recommend optimization strategies in collaboration with developers, architects, and DevOps teams.
Establish performance testing standards, frameworks, and best practices.
Mentor junior and intermediate QA resources on performance engineering practices.
QA Automation & Continuous Testing (30%)
Design, develop, and maintain automation testing frameworks and scripts for:
Web applications
UI and non-UI components
Web services
Integration testing
Embed non-functional testing activities into CI/CD pipelines for continuous performance validation.
Develop test plans, test cases, and testing documentation.
Execute functional, integration, regression, interface, and performance testing.
Support defect identification, troubleshooting, documentation, and resolution validation.
Perform manual testing and debugging when required.
Systems Analysis & Technical Troubleshooting (20%)
Analyze application behavior and troubleshoot complex performance issues.
Work with backend technologies and development teams to identify root causes.
Read and understand backend code written in technologies such as:
Java
Python
Go
.NET
Analyze database performance using advanced SQL queries.
Validate data integrity through SQL and ETL testing activities.
Evaluate system performance across:
Cloud environments
Microservices architectures
Caching layers
Load-balanced environments
QA Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration (10%)
Collaborate with:
Project Managers
Business Analysts
Development Teams
IT Leads
Clinical Leads
Business Stakeholders
Communicate testing strategies, findings, risks, and recommendations effectively.
Prepare testing reports, documentation, and quality assurance artifacts.
Participate in project planning, estimation, and implementation activities.
Promote QA standards and continuous improvement practices.
Required Skills & Experience Skill / Experience Years Required Information Technology experience focused on web-based applications and QA automation/performance testing

Senior-level QA/Test Lead experience
3+ Years
Performance testing using Apache JMeter
Extensive Experience JMeter scripting including BeanShell/Groovy and custom plugins
Advanced Distributed performance testing experience
Required Application Performance Monitoring tools (Grafana, Dynatrace, Current Relic, or similar)
Required Cloud infrastructure knowledge (AWS/Azure)
Required Microservices architecture experience
Required Understanding of caching technologies (Redis/Memcached)
Required Load balancer configuration and troubleshooting knowledge
Required SQL/NoSQL database performance analysis
Advanced Writing complex SQL queries for troubleshooting and validation
Required Backend code understanding (Java, Python, Go, .NET)
Required Automation framework development and maintenance
Required Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) experience
Required Agile and Iterative methodologies experience
Highly Desired Skills
Experience executing ETL DataStage jobs using UNIX shell scripts.
Technical knowledge of Siebel/CRM platforms.
Basic Unix/Linux operational skills including:
System navigation
Connectivity

Public sector or healthcare technology experience.

Work Environment Requirements
Candidate must comply with Supply Ontario policies and procedures.
Agency systems may only be accessed from within Ontario unless prior written approval is provided.
Agency equipment, including laptops, must remain within Ontario unless authorized.
