Job Title: Lifeguard(s) and Instructor Guard(s)
Wage: Lifeguard: $28.35 - $30.66 per hour (2026)
Instructor Guard: $31.23 - $33.78 per hour (2026)
Reports to: Aquatics Coordinator
Department: Community Services
Location: Lindsay Recreation Complex and/or Forbert Memorial Pool (Bobcaygeon)
Hours: Part-time hours range from 4 to 24 hours per week, including days, evenings, and weekends
Other: Some travel throughout the City of Kawartha Lakes may be necessary in accordance with job requirements.

Job Description
- Assist in ensuring that the facility is properly maintained
- Keep records of every aspect of the pool’s operation and maintenance
- Maintain constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Lifeguard
- Perform all of the duties as above including lifesaving activities; act immediately and appropriately for the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
Instructor Guard
- Perform all of the duties above including teaching quality swimming programs and providing excellent customer service.
Skills / Education Required
- Current National Lifesaving Service Certification
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR qualifications
- Current Red Cross Instructor, Lifesaving Instructor Qualification (Instructor Guards)
- This position requires that the successful applicant is a minimum of 15 years of age in accordance with the Health Protection and Promotion Act, Regulation 565 for Public Pools.
- Upon a conditional offer of employment, a Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Search, will be required.
Mandatory Swim / Skills Assessment
Candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process must successfully complete a mandatory swim assessment. The assessment will be held during the week of August 20–25, 2026. Applicants should ensure they are available during this period, as attendance is a required part of the selection process.
