About The OpportunityOur public sector client is seeking an experienced Project Management Specialist to support the successful delivery of two strategic enterprise initiatives. This role will focus on establishing effective governance structures, coordinating cross functional stakeholders, managing project risks and timelines, and ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with organizational objectives. Working in a collaborative environment, you will play a key role in supporting senior leadership through solid project planning, governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.Duties include but are not limited to:Provide project management expertise and governance support for strategic organizational initiativesEstablish, implement, and maintain project governance frameworks, processes, and reporting mechanismsDevelop, monitor, and maintain project work plans, schedules, dependencies, and milestonesCoordinate project activities across multiple business units and stakeholder groups.Manage project scope and oversee formal change management processesIdentify, assess, prioritize, and escalat project risks and issues while recommending mitigation strategiesPrepare executive level briefing materials, governance documentation, meeting agendas, decision logs,
and action itemsSupport senior governance committees and ensure appropriate follow up on key decisionsMonitor project execution and ensure governance controls and delivery processes are maintainedPerform other related project management activities as requiredAbout YouUniversity degree or college diploma in Business, Public Administration, Economics, Policy, or another related disciplineMinimum five (5) years of recent experience managing complex, non-IT projectsMinimum five (5) years of experience leading complex, multi stakeholder initiatives with evolving priorities and scopeDemonstrated knowledge of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and change control practicesExperience designing and implementing project governance structuresProven ability to identify, assess, and manage project risks and issuesStrong stakeholder management skills with experience working alongside senior leaders and subject matter expertsExcellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to prepare executive level documentationExperience working within multidisciplinary environments involving policy, research, operations, technology, and external stakeholdersExperience recovering and successfully delivering projects experiencing governance or delivery challengesBilingualism in English and French is requiredMust have a Reliability Status security clearancePMP, PRINCE2, Agile, or another recognized project management certification would be considered an assetAbout the JobDuration: One (1) year contract with the possibility of a one (1) year extension.Location: Downtown Ottawa, OntarioWork Environment: Hybrid. Consultants are required to work onsite approximately 12 days per month.
