Take Ownership of the Manufacturing Planning Process - From Demand Planning to Customer Delivery
Are you a strategic Production Planner who thrives on balancing demand, capacity, materials, and production priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment?
We're partnering with a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a highly analytical and proactive Production Planner to take ownership of the end-to-end manufacturing planning process while collaborating closely with the Plant Manager and cross-functional teams. This is far more than a scheduling role, you'll be responsible for developing production plans, coordinating material requirements, monitoring shop floor execution, and ensuring customer commitments are met through thoughtful planning and collaboration.
As the primary driver of the planning process, you'll work alongside Operations, Purchasing, Sales, Warehouse, and Production to develop and adjust production plans based on changing business needs. Your ability to anticipate challenges, communicate effectively, and make data-driven decisions will be critical to maintaining production efficiency and supporting operational success.
What's in it for you
- Competitive salary of $80,000-$85,000
- Profit sharing program
- Three weeks' vacation
- Comprehensive health and dental benefits
- Stable, permanent opportunity with a growing manufacturing organization
- Collaborative, team-oriented culture where your expertise is valued
- Opportunity to work closely with Plant Leadership and influence operational performance
- Long-term career growth and professional development
What you'll be doing
- Take ownership of the end-to-end manufacturing planning process in partnership with the Plant Manager and Operations team
- Review demand forecasts and translate customer requirements into achievable production plans
- Develop and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS), balancing production capacity, labour, equipment, inventory, and customer priorities
- Coordinate material requirements with Purchasing to ensure uninterrupted production
- Monitor raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and finished goods inventory levels
- Create, release, and manage manufacturing work orders while monitoring shop floor execution and adjusting plans as required
- Identify production constraints and proactively recommend solutions to maintain production flow and customer delivery commitments
- Collaborate with Sales, Purchasing, Warehouse, and Production to communicate priorities and production updates
- Monitor key performance indicators, including on-time delivery, schedule attainment, capacity utilization, and production efficiency
- Prepare production reports and planning analysis to support operational decision-making
- Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning processes and manufacturing performance
What we're looking for
We're looking for a true Production Planner ‑someone who has been the primary driver of the manufacturing planning process, not simply responsible for scheduling production orders.
Must-have experience
- 5+ years of progressive production planning experience within a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience leading the end-to-end manufacturing planning process, including Demand Planning & Forecast Review, Capacity Planning, Master Production Scheduling (MPS), Material Planning & Coordination, Inventory Management, Manufacturing Work Order Creation & Release, Shop Floor Tracking & Production Monitoring, Customer Delivery Planning
- Robust understanding of manufacturing operations and inventory control
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems (JD Edwards is considered a strong asset)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and production data analysis
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Previous experience with Make-to-order/Engineered manufacturing environment experience preferred.
If you're looking for an opportunity where you'll take ownership of the planning function, partner closely with operations leadership, and make a measurable impact on manufacturing performance, we'd love to hear from you.
