At Stellar, we aim to build a studio where people actually want to work. We face production’s inevitable ups and downs as a supportive, truly connected team, prioritizing open communication over anyone working in isolation. We value honesty, creativity, and looking out for one another.

We believe that diversity and inclusion are the absolute keys to boundless creativity and seamless collaboration. We are deeply committed to building a supportive, open, and diverse community where creative minds from all backgrounds can thrive, innovate, and grow. We are constantly looking for ways to improve our studio accessibility, and we always welcome feedback or suggestions from our creative community.

The Opportunity

We are currently staffing up for an exciting, high-profile streaming series with Marvel Studios ! Yes, the project is remarkably fun and creatively inspiring, but we also know the grounded reality of the industry: episodic animation moves fast, and production pressure can run high.

We are looking for an empathetic, hyper-organized Associate Production Manager (APM) who deeply understands the animation and VFX pipeline, knows how to keep a show running smoothly on schedule, and fiercely protects the wellbeing and morale of the crew. We are not looking for a superficial cheerleader; we need a resilient, practical problem-solver.

If you are the kind of production leader who focuses intensely on removing roadblocks, running efficient meetings that genuinely respect people’s time, and keeping tracking data immaculate so nobody has to guess what is going on, you are exactly who we are looking for.

As an Associate Production Manager at Stellar,

your day-to-day contributions will span schedule tracking, cross-departmental communication, workflow maintenance, and team advocacy. Success in this role is defined by three core pillars:

1. Production Management & Scheduling

- Strategic Planning: Partner closely with the Production Manager to map out realistic, achievable schedules across your assigned departments.
- Milestone & Quota Tracking: Track artist quotas, task progress, and milestone deliverables daily. Spot, flag, and analyze bottlenecks early so the production team can pivot before minor issues turn into critical blockers.
- Proactive Variance Management: Swiftly flag schedule variances, technical pipeline blocks, or departmental handoff delays to the Production Manager, accompanied by practical, actionable solutions.
- Team Supervision & Mentorship: Supervise Production Coordinators and Production Assistants across assigned departments. Delegate administrative duties, oversee note-taking standards, and support their ongoing career development in partnership with the PM.
- Resource Allocation: Assist the Production Manager in adjusting artist assignments dynamically based on individual creative strengths, technical skill sets, and episode complexity.
- Reporting: Prepare comprehensive weekly status reports and milestone summaries for the Production Manager and Line Producer.

2. Team Advocacy & Cross-Functional Communication

- The Bridge Between Teams: Act as a trusted, communicative bridge between artists, supervisors, and studio leadership. Check in regularly on the floor to actively help remove daily roadblocks.
- Efficient Dailies & Meetings: Run dailies efficiently and purposefully. Keep meetings tightly focused, take clear and actionable notes, and ensure that every participant walks away fully aligned on feedback and next steps.
- Flawless Handoffs: Ensure clean, predictable upstream and downstream asset and shot handoffs between departments to eliminate pipeline friction.

3. Workflow & Data Management

- Immaculate Tracking: Keep Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) completely immaculate. You know that messy, outdated data creates unnecessary stress for artists, and you take immense pride in keeping our tracking databases accurate, transparent, and reliable.
- Client Deliveries & Reviews: Manage client reviews and media deliveries seamlessly,

ensuring feedback is distributed to the production floor quickly, clearly, and with full context.

The Requirements: What We Are Looking For

To succeed in this mid-level production management role, candidates must combine robust technical pipeline knowledge with high emotional intelligence and structural organization:

Core Must-Haves

- Professional Experience: 3+ years of production management experience specifically within a 3D animation, 2.5D, or VFX pipeline. You must understand how an asset or shot actually moves through the studio pipeline to effectively schedule it.
- Core Competencies: High emotional intelligence combined with exceptional organizational skills. You stay calm, constructive, and level-headed when production inevitably throws a curveball.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. You know how to translate technical feedback and deliver direct, transparent updates to both creative artists and studio executives.
- Software Mastery: High proficiency with Flow Production Tracking (ShotGrid) , the Google Suite , and Microsoft Excel .
- Legal Eligibility: Must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada. (Priority will be given to BC residents, Canadian citizens, and Canadian permanent residents).

Nice-to-Haves (Bonus Points)

- Previous professional experience managing production teams specifically on fast-paced episodic television series or streaming shows.
- A strong, demonstrated interest in workflow optimization—constantly looking for ways to cut out unnecessary busywork and make the day-to-day routine smoother and more efficient for the crew.

We take pride in taking care of our team members. Joining Stellar means gaining access to a comprehensive package of perks, professional development opportunities, and a world-class studio culture:

- Flexible Hybrid Environment: We offer a balanced, versatile hybrid schedule that adapts dynamically with project milestones and team collaboration requirements.
- Comprehensive Health Benefits: Extensive extended health, dental, and medical perks package to keep you and your family fully supported.
- Continuous Professional Growth: Dedicated professional development support and mentorship structures to help you stay ahead of evolving industry technology and creative trends.
- Unmatched Studio Culture: A genuinely collaborative, ego-free, and supportive environment where organizational expertise directly fuels creative magic.

Competitive Salary Range: CAD $70,000 to $83,000 per annum, structured fairly and competitively based on your professional experience level and pipeline knowledge.
