Community Member Representatives – Community Consultative Group

The Community Consultative Group is seeking expressions of interest from2–3 community members to serve as community member representatives. This opportunity is open to members ofall ages who are interested in supporting communitypolicing priorities, public safety, and respectful collaborationbetween thecommunity andIndigenous Policing Service officers .

Purpose of the Community Consultative Group

- The primary purpose of the Community Consultative Group is to provide an opportunity for the group and Indigenous Policing Service officers to discusscommunity policing matters .
- The group supports the development, review, and updating of theRCMP Letter of Expectation .

Eligibility and Appointment Considerations

- Interested community members should be willing and able to represent the community’s interests regardingpolicing priorities, public safety priorities , and the delivery ofDedicated Police Services .
- Membersmay be required to obtain aCriminal Record Check if they haveaccess to sensitive information,



information systems, or financial contributions made by the Province for the purposes of the project.

Role and Responsibilities

- Prepare for committee meetings byreading reports and background materials and obtaining information needed for informed discussion and decision making .
- Become knowledgeable about the committee’s functions and mandate.
- Participate fully and respectfully in committee discussions.
- Attend committee meetings regularly.
- Avoid conflicts of interest and comply with conflict of interest policies and procedures established by Council or under Lower Nicola Indian Band laws and policies.

Desired Outcomes

The Community Consultative Group will support the following outcomes:

- Improved operation of the Community Consultative Group for the delivery of Dedicated Police Services that are qualified, dedicated, and culturally responsive.
- Increased collaboration and trust between the LNIB community and Merritt RCMP.
