- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children
- Plan and supervise activities to promote physical, intellectual, and social development
- Monitor and assess children's progress and communicate with parents/guardians
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, incidents, and observations
- Collaborate with other teachers and staff to create a positive learning environment
- Ensure compliance with all licensing regulations and program policies
Skills
- Time management: Ability to effectively plan and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
- Childcare: Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood education
- Leadership: Ability to guide and motivate children in a classroom setting
- Organizational:
Strong organizational skills to maintain a well-run classroom environment
- Special education: Familiarity with special education strategies and accommodations for diverse learners
- Experience with children: Previous experience working with young children in a classroom or childcare setting
- Bilingual: Proficiency in multiple languages, especially French, is a plus
- Classroom communication: Excellent communication skills to interact with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues
