Responsibilities
- Install, maintain domestic plumbing fixtures and piping, such as sinks, showers, water closets, water coolers, ice machines and other plumbing fixtures.
- Install, maintain and repair chilled water, hot water and glycol coils in AHUs, hot water heating equipment such as radiant heating panels, unit heaters and fan coils, lawn sprinklers and water treatment piping system for RO water, soft water and de‑ionized water.
- Install, maintain and repair kitchen equipment, coffee machine, vending machine, grease trap etc.
- Install, maintain and repair patient care related plumbing equipment / fixtures such as sterilizers, water‑cooled machineries, bed pan flasher and macerators.
- Install, maintain and repair minor steam/condensate devices such as steam traps, humidifiers, safety valves, pressure gauges, thermometers, sight glasses, etc.
- Maintain and repair installed plumbing systems by tracing and rectifying defects, replacing broken pipes and fixtures, soldering and caulking leaks, clearing plugged waste pipes and trap and thawing frozen lines.
- Undertake a comprehensive preventive maintenance program and ensure that proper maintenance cycles are maintained, and data provided to Supervisor/Manager.
- Unplug sink, toilet, roof drain, floor drain and clear any drainage piping such as glass pipe, PVC pipe or cast‑iron pipe. Repair or replace fixtures and fittings in drainage systems.
- Cut, bend, thread pipes, fit threaded pipes with adjoining pipe assemblies.
- Weld, braze and solder piping and fitting as is necessary.
- Perform preventive maintenance to medical gas outlets, fire suppression sprinkler systems, lawn sprinklers, plumbing fixtures, etc.
- Conduct back‑flow inspections and cross‑connection inspections/mapping.
- Install and repair fire suppression and lawn sprinkler lines and fixtures.
- Source parts and accessories as may be required from time to time to complete repairs.
- Keep work area orderly, clean and safe, following IPAC standards when working in a health‑care environment.
- Ensure proper care in the use of equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Plumbing Certificate, 306A.
- Valid OWWA Backflow Prevention certification.
- 3–5 years of maintenance plumbing experience.
- Registered member in good standing with Skilled Trades Ontario.
- A certified back‑flow prevention device testing license is preferred.
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to work at heights, using step ladder, scissor lift, telescopic boom, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 20 kg.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, plumbing drawings, instruction, and Operation & Maintenance Manual.
- Knowledge and ability to work with plumbing tools and devices safely.
- Ability to work in a team setting, which may support various trades and roles where required, as well as comfort working alone.
- Familiarity working within large facilities is preferred.
- This role will support facilities across the GTA including downtown Toronto.
- Salary range: $35.00 – $42.00/hr.
