About the Role:
This role focuses on performing precise mechanical inspections using CMM and metrology tools to ensure product quality throughout manufacturing. You’ll interpret complex engineering drawings, complete first‑piece, in‑process, and final inspections, and prepare NCRs and FAI reports. The position requires robust technical accuracy, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a quick‑paced aerospace and automotive environment.
Responsibilities:
- Experience with Metrology tools and equipments like CMM, Height Gauges, Micrometers, Thread Gauges etc.
- CMM operation experience with MCOSMOS software will be an asset
- Proficient with AutoCAD, .dxf, .stp files, Solid Works and Microsoft office
- Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T;, specifications and standards
- Ability to use metrology inspection of various first piece, in-process and final inspections of housings, sub-assemblies, and finished goods inspections in a timely manner
- Perform receiving,
in-process verification and final inspection in accordance with Machine Shop and Quality Assurance policies and procedures
- Issue non-conforming reports (NCRs) and first article inspections (FAI Reports) as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Skills/Requirements:
- Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- 2 years minimum experience in CMM operation will be an asset
- Automotive and Aerospace manufacturing experience preferred
- Able to work from AutoCAD files, blueprints, specifications, written, and/or verbal instructions
- Proven analytical and problem solving skills
- An understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Familiar with ISO 9001 procedures
- Competence with standard PC functionality and software
- Effective verbal and written communication skill
- Ability to do the job with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, if needed
- Experience working within the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) environment is considered an asset.
- Must be able to obtain CGP registration
