Position Title

Equipment Operator II/Caretaker-Maintenance - Casual Call-In - St. Anthony

Job Overview

Responsible for the secure transportation of students to and from schools according to pre-planned routes and for school events where applicable. While operating the bus, the Operator is responsible for the supervision of students and reporting incidents/accidents/discipline matters to School Administrators. The Operator will also maintain a Motor Vehicle log book, perform pre and post-trip inspections, perform minor repairs, and maintain cleanliness of the vehicle. In addition to bus driving, some positions also provide daily janitorial and maintenance duties through an established schedule to ensure that the schools are maintained at the highest possible level of cleanliness. This position will be responsible for snow clearing and ice control. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

- Transport students to and from schools according to pre‑planned routes and for school events where applicable.
- Supervise students while operating the bus and report incidents/accidents/discipline matters to School Administrators.
- Maintain a Motor Vehicle log book.
- Perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections, minor repairs,



and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Provide daily janitorial and maintenance duties according to established schedule.
- Perform snow clearing and ice control.
- Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Submission of suitable Certificate of Conduct.
- Submission of suitable Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Submission of suitable Drivers Abstract.
- Class 9 air brake endorsement.
- Class 2 beginners endorsement.
- Willingness to obtain a Class 2 drivers license.
- Meet all other requirements of the Student Transportation Driver Standards.
- Knowledge of Highway Traffic Act.
- Understanding of bus evacuation procedures.
- At least one year of experience in commercial/institutional janitorial work and maintenance repair.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety.
- WHMIS knowledge.
- Understanding of school board policies and procedures.
- Must be certified in first aid with Level C CPR.
- Defensive driving skills.
- Reliable transportation.
- Ability to work as a team player and independently.
- Experience working with children either in a work or volunteer capacity considered an asset.

Compensation

CUPE Master: (CG-23): $22.50 - $24.74 per hour
