Job Title: Robot Technician

Reporting to: Mr. William Tennant, Assistant General Manager

Type of Position: Permanent; Full time

Term: Permanent

Salary: $38.31 CAD - $46.24 CAD per hour depending on experience, annual performance bonus and discretionary bonus

Benefits: 3 weeks of paid vacation per year in accordance with provincial employment standards and company policy. Eligible for health and dental benefits in accordance with company policy.

Hours: 40 hours per week

This position does not require any provincial license or certification in Ontario.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Program, troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize FANUC robotic welding systems and automated manufacturing equipment to support production requirements.
- Configure, test, and maintain robotic systems, weld controllers, vision systems, tooling, fixtures, material handling equipment, and other automation-related equipment used in manufacturing operations.
- Support the installation, commissioning, integration, and validation of robotic welding cells, automated production lines, and manufacturing systems for new and existing programs.
- Perform robot mastering, TCP calibration, user frame setup, payload configuration, program backups, software updates, and system recoveries to ensure reliable equipment operation.
- Program, troubleshoot, validate, and optimize robotic welding processes, welding parameters, weld controllers, and associated automation equipment to support production quality and efficiency requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve robotic, mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues through systematic troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Configure and maintain communication between robots, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, weld controllers,



and other industrial automation devices to ensure efficient operation of manufacturing systems.
- Conduct testing, verification, and validation of robotic equipment, automation systems, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and production requirements.
- Monitor robotic system performance, cycle times, equipment reliability, and process efficiency, implementing improvements to optimize productivity, quality, and equipment utilization.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on robotic welding equipment, automated manufacturing systems, and related production equipment.
- Analyze production and equipment performance data to identify opportunities for process improvements, equipment optimization, waste reduction, and cost savings.
- Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, process documentation, and customer requirements to support manufacturing operations and equipment performance.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and quality teams to support production launches, equipment upgrades, automation projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support and training to production and maintenance personnel regarding robotic systems, automation equipment, operating procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Maintain technical records, equipment documentation, process standards, and operating procedures related to robotic and automated manufacturing systems.
- Follow and comply with all applicable health and safety regulations, environmental requirements, customer standards, and company policies.




- Perform other related duties as assigned in support of manufacturing and automation operations.

Qualifications

- Completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline is required.
- Completion of a Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technology – Automation and Robotics, Robotics and Automation Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, maintaining, and supporting robotic and automated manufacturing systems is required.
- Experience with industrial robotic systems, including FANUC robots, robotic welding applications, automated production equipment, and manufacturing technologies is required.
- Experience with PLCs, industrial communication networks, HMIs, sensors, weld controllers, and related automation equipment is required.
- Experience supporting the installation, commissioning, validation, testing, and optimization of robotic and automated manufacturing equipment is required.
- Knowledge of robotic welding processes, manufacturing automation systems, production equipment, and continuous improvement methodologies is required.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, process documentation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;) principles and manufacturing quality requirements is considered an asset.
- Welding experience and familiarity with robotic welding systems are considered strong assets.
- Familiarity with automotive manufacturing quality standards and quality management systems is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary manufacturing environment.
- Must be willing to work shifts and be flexible, including overtime on short notice.
