The Personal Care Worker is a frontline role responsible for delivering high-quality, person-centered support to tenants within a 24/7 supportive housing environment.
This role combines direct care, mental health and substance use support, and operational leadership to ensure safe, consistent, and trauma-informed service delivery aligned with a Housing First and harm reduction framework.
Responsibilities
- Delivering 'on - demand' supports and programs following a 'housing first' philosophy as part of a collaborative team.
- Following prescribed policies and procedures associated with the housing program.
- Supporting participants through a person-centered approach.
The Personal Care Worker (PCW) will work with an interdisciplinary team to support participants of Brunswick Street - a supported housing program for senior to age in place with wrap‑around supports.
The interdisciplinary team provides 24/7 support to tenants around life skills and health and wellness to ensure participants can effectively manage their tenancy and lives.
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2+ years experience in mental health and substance use (mandatory)
- Harm reduction (mandatory)
- Emergency shelter and/or transitional housing settings (mandatory)
- Demonstrated ability to apply a trauma-informed approach
Assets
- Formal education in social, health, addictions, human services or community work
- Lived/living experience related to the population served
- Cultural understanding and relevant training
- Diploma is an asset but not a requirement
- Lived and/or living experiences of homelessness, mental health and substance misuse an asset
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with complex health and social needs including substance use, chronic illness, cognitive decline, and social isolation, homelessness and/or barriers to reliable housing
