Join the City of Cambridge as a Part time Administrative Penalty Screening Officer, where you will conduct fair reviews of municipal penalties in a supportive environment. Engage with diverse communities and ensure transparency in the administrative process.
This temporary role lasts approximately eight months, working under the Manager of Municipal By-Law Compliance and Corporate Security. You will utilize your skills in interpreting legislation and applying by-laws, while also engaging in community outreach to foster understanding of city processes. Your commitment to integrity and procedural fairness will guide your decision-making in penalty screening.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct screening reviews according to city by-law processes
• Review and analyze penalty documents and render independent decisions
• Enter and reconcile fine payment data in management systems
• Prepare written decisions and present at hearings
• Educate the public on by-laws and penalties
Requirements:
• Diploma in Law Administration or related field
• Minimum one year of relevant experience
• Knowledge of administrative law and mediation
• Preferred membership in SOAR or Law Society of Ontario
• Valid G driver's license
