Job Description Summary: Responsible to assist with the operation troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties/facilities.

Responsibilities

- Perform troubleshooting and repairs required for the maintenance and upkeep of the site and its equipment, including, but not limited to, replacing belts and filters, lubrications, and minor part replacement.
- Troubleshoot minor mechanical/electrical issues in adherence with local electrical, fire, and safety codes to maintain equipment in good working order and limit major repair bills.
- Secure Bayshore Shopping Centre property against loss from theft, fire, liability claims, and prosecutions by ensuring all health, safety, and security procedures are adhered to and areas of concern are reported in a timely manner.
- Monitor HVAC and related equipment and water treatment by checking all major mechanical controls and confirming they are in good working order to ensure a comfortable environment for clients.
- Inspect all central equipment and life‑safety equipment, including testing of fire protection devices and auxiliary/emergency power systems on a regular basis, and report any problems or unusual findings to a supervisor.
- Respond to clients’ concerns regarding HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general repair issues by solving problems or making recommendations as required to reduce repair costs and ensure high customer service.
- Coordinate with exterior service contractors for site maintenance of all structural, mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems, such as chillers, boilers, heat pumps, air conditioners, emergency generators, induction units, and VAV systems.
- Maintain daily, weekly, monthly, and annual logs of mechanical systems as required.
- Other duties as assigned by management.




- Respond to work orders and preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner based on set frequencies.

What You Need To Succeed

- High School Diploma required.
- Valid G driver’s license.
- Building technician certificate and/or instrumentation and control certificate an asset.
- Enrolled in SMA or SMT (BOMA) or Stationary Engineer 4th‑B Class; Stationary Engineer 4th‑A Class an asset.
- Experience in physical plant operations, HVAC, and related equipment preferably in a retail, office building or mixed‑use environment.
- Thorough knowledge of general maintenance procedures, current technology, electrical/mechanical systems, and blueprint reading & comprehension.
- Proven mechanical abilities.

Important Experience

- 2+ years of related experience in a commercial property setting.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

- Technical, vocational or on‑the‑job training in at least one of the following areas: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.




- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license (commercial license may be required) and good driving record with periodic checks.
- Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel & Word.

Work Environment

This job operates in a skilled office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Compensation

Compensation: $28.60 - $33.65 per hour.
