March of Dimes Canada is a leading national charity dedicated to empowering people with disabilities to live and thrive in communities nationwide. Our Community Support Services (CSS) team provides essential services that enable our clients to thrive.
The opportunity: Known internally as Support Service Attendant, we have an prospect for 3 Part-time Personal Support Workers in our St. Catherines office.
- Schedule: Flexible schedule (Mornings, afternoon, evenings, every other weekend)
- Starting wage: $22.81 per hour. This compensation is inclusive of a $3.00 per hour wage enhancement from the Ontario government for hours spent directly supporting clients. The wage enhancement does not apply to training and paid leave.
- Hours: Up to 25 hours a week
Responsibilities
- Assist service users/clients in their own homes with non-medical activities of daily living in accordance with individual service plans and with March of Dimes Canada policies and procedures:
- Personal care
- Lifts and Transfers
- Rising/retiring
- Bowel and bladder procedures
- Meal preparation and feeding
- Range of motion exercises
- Other light housekeeping duties
- Perform duties in a professional manner, which respects the dignity and right to privacy and maintains consumer and staff health and safety.
- Provide support to seniors in their homes; shifts will require travel across multiple locations. Mileage kilometres are reimbursed.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain
- Experience working with individuals with physical disabilities, older adults, or as an informal caregiver considered an asset but not required
- Good interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of and abilities in transferring, lifting, bowel and bladder routines and other attendant care duties
- Physical Demands Self Analysis Required upon hire
- Ability to work flexible and regularly scheduled hours
