About the Role
The Company is in search of a President & CEO to lead its organization through a pivotal period in its history. The successful candidate will be the senior executive leader, responsible for the strategic direction, day-to-day operations, member relations, government advocacy, and public representation. Advocacy is the primary focus, and the role requires a leader with strong political instincts, relationship-building abilities, and the persistence to advance the organization's agenda on issues that directly impact members. This includes safety and security, short-term rental regulation, workforce and labor shortages, accommodation tax, and emergency response coordination. The President & CEO will also be tasked with maintaining trust and relevance across a diverse membership, from large urban convention hotels to small rural properties,
and will play a central role in the organization's centennial celebrations.
Candidates for the President & CEO position should have a proven track record in leadership within a membership-based association, with a focus on government relations and advocacy. The role demands a polished public and media presence, as well as sound organizational management skills. While experience in the hotel or hospitality industry is an asset, it is not a prerequisite, and candidates from adjacent sectors such as tourism, retail, chambers of commerce, economic development, or government relations are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will be adept at building and maintaining productive relationships with government representatives at all levels and will be expected to lead the organization in alignment with the Board's priorities, ensuring the Association is the leading voice for the hospitality sector in the region.
