About the Role

The Company is seeking a Dean for its Faculty of Dentistry, a role that is pivotal in providing strategic and academic leadership in the areas of people, education, research, and engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for advancing knowledge and practice in oral and general health, with a focus on progressive education, innovative research, and service-oriented community engagement.



This leadership position demands an exceptional communicator and relationship builder who can foster a collaborative environment both within the Faculty and with external stakeholders. The Dean will also be tasked with leading the Faculty through a period of innovation and growth, ensuring academic excellence, and engaging in partnerships to support the UBC community.

Ideal candidates for the Dean position at the Faculty of Dentistry should have a DDS or DMD and be eligible for a Full Professorship at UBC. A strong background in academic administration, a successful record in education, research, and a compelling vision for the Faculty are essential. Experience in clinical services, a PhD in a related field, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion are strong assets. The role requires a leader who can effectively manage the Faculty's budget, align resources with strategic priorities, and support investments in programs and people. Familiarity with alumni engagement, donor relations, and fundraising activities is also necessary, as the Dean will be expected to act as an advocate for the Faculty and the University.
