Position Overview

The City of Maple Ridge is looking for a detail-oriented and collaborative Facilities Project Coordinator to support the planning and delivery of municipal facilities projects that serve our growing community.

In this role, you will coordinate a variety of small to mid-sized facilities projects and provide project support on larger initiatives. You will help develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets; monitor progress and costs; conduct site inspections; and work closely with staff, consultants, contractors, and other partners to keep projects moving forward. This position offers a blend of technical, administrative, office, and field work. You will have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of construction, facilities maintenance, project coordination, budgeting, and contract administration while contributing to the improvement and ongoing operation of City facilities.

The successful candidate will exercise sound judgment, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external contacts. Working within established standards and practices, you will play an important role in ensuring projects are completed efficiently, accurately, and in alignment with City objectives.

What You’ll Be Doing

- You will support the planning and delivery of municipal facilities projects that serve Maple Ridge’s growing community. This role combines technical, administrative, office, and field work, giving you the opportunity to contribute directly to the improvement and ongoing operation of City facilities.
- You will coordinate a variety of small to mid-sized facilities projects and provide project support on larger initiatives. This includes developing project scopes, schedules,



and budgets; monitoring progress and costs; conducting site inspections; and ensuring work is completed in alignment with City standards, project requirements, and operational needs.
- You will work closely with staff, consultants, contractors, and other partners to keep projects moving forward, resolve issues, and support effective communication throughout each stage of the project. You will also prepare and maintain project documentation, review invoices and change orders, support tender and contract administration, and provide updates and recommendations as projects progress.
- You will use your judgment, organizational skills, and technical knowledge to manage competing priorities, support sound decision-making, and help ensure projects are delivered efficiently, accurately, and in service of the community.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Thorough knowledge of the methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in construction, renovation and installation of municipal facilities and equipment.

Thorough knowledge of current building technology for architectural, mechanical, electrical and structural disciplines.

Sound knowledge of construction contract law, Canadian Contract Documents Committee (CCDC) documents, public tendering practices, bonding, surety and insurance procedures.

Sound knowledge of the rules, regulations, bylaws and policies applicable to the work performed.

Sound knowledge of engineering mathematics and principles and of construction plans, specifications, contract documents and data related to the work.

Sound knowledge of the fundamentals of budgeting and standard costing procedures related to the work performed.





Sound knowledge of computer applications and capabilities related to the work performed.

Ability to act as a liaison and coordinator for small to mid-sized projects and to provide support to a project manager with the coordination of large projects.

Ability to review, analyze, assess and interpret plans, specifications, contracts and other material related to the work.

Ability to deal effectively and tactfully and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.

Ability to prepare and maintain reports, records, correspondence and various other material related to the work.

Skill in the use of tools and equipment used in the work.

Desirable Training And Experience

Diploma in civil engineering, architectural sciences, building technology or related field, including or supplemented by courses in project management, plus some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Licenses, Certificates And Registrations

Class 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia.

Preferred Qualifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) - Certification

Additional Information

Must have the ability to obtain RCMP security clearance

Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm
