The Financial Analyst / Senior Accountant, Planning and Forecasting strengthens organizational decision‑making by delivering accurate financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and analytical insights that will support key business initiatives and operational priorities. This position is ideal for a hands‑on accounting / financial professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is passionate about driving accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement. The role also involves handling the accounting for smaller business entities in the Group and their related payments, sales tax filing and other ad‑hoc reporting as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Contributes to period‑end, monthly, quarterly, and annual planning and reporting cycles
Supports with budgeting cycles, coordinate input from business units, and ensure alignment with corporate strategy
Collaborates with multiple stakeholders to prepare and distribute the company’s financial/KPI reporting/dashboards, financial results, budgets/forecasts, and variance analyses
Proposes and develops forecasts using historical data, market trends, and scenario analysis
Assists with data analytics utilizing various tools to analyze trends, identify risks/opportunities, and support operational improvements
Collaborates with leadership on budgeting, forecasting financial analysis and other accounting activities
Provides insights into business cases, pricing decisions, and support senior leadership with long‑term planning
Ensures compliance with financial processes, follows Canadian GAAP/IFRS and other regulatory requirements.
Assists internal stakeholders by providing accurate financial analysis, reporting, and variance explanations and other key data to support with informed decision
Helps the team understand financial results and provides explicit, data‑supported insights
Contributes to finance process improvements, reporting enhancements, and analytical process
Prepares ad hoc financial analysis, business case support, and other reporting models as required
Assesses financial data and preparing documents for income tax purposes in compliance with relevant regulations
Supports month‑end close processes, including journal entries, financial schedules, and reporting
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restrictions
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, statistics, or a related field
Professional accounting designation (CPA/CFA or working towards) will be considered a strong asset
Experience working with financial and operating systems such as NetSuite (Oracle), Microsoft Office Products (e.g. Excel, Access), SQL, Power BI, Tableau
3–5 years of experience in FP&A;, corporate finance, or financial modelling
Solid understanding of Canadian GAAP/IFRS and Ontario business regulations
Excellent oral and writing communication skills for presenting insights to senior leadership or to explain financial concepts to non‑financial stakeholders
Experience analyzing large volumes of data
Progressive experience in FP&A;, financial analysis, or accounting within a manufacturing environment or grocery industry is not a must but will be considered an asset
