Join our team as a paid volunteer Diabetes Support Technician, helping children manage their diabetes at school. Work closely with healthcare professionals for one hour each day.
This position with CHEO focuses on delivering essential diabetes care and insulin administration according to personalized health plans. Collaborate with families, school staff, and virtual nurses while participating in continuous evaluation and improvement of care practices. Training in child development and diabetes management will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
• Administer insulin injections in school settings
• Collaborate with a healthcare team for child care
• Attend meetings for program updates and improvements
• Maintain accurate documentation of client care
• Communicate any concerns about children’s health
Requirements:
• Current CPR certification is essential
• Interest in advocating for children with diabetes
• Robust verbal and written communication skills
• Physical ability to lift and assist clients
• Must have own transportation
