Overview
Second Nature School is hiring Support Staff Instructor Therapists who are dedicated to providing a safe, neuro-affirming, play and inquiry-based learning environment. Second Nature's specialized educational instruction implements trauma-informed practices that celebrate neurodiversity and prioritize mental health/wellness. As a school and clinic, we are team-oriented and multi-disciplinary.
We are looking for candidates to fill both full-time and part-time positions.
Responsibilities
- Provide a safe, neuro-affirming, play and inquiry-based learning environment for learners.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within a school and clinic setting.
- Deliver trauma-informed instructional practices and apply evidence-based approaches as appropriate.
- Engage with families, colleagues, and supervisors in a professional and ethical manner.
Qualifications
- Education and training in psychology, child development, early learning and education, social work, nursing and/or other helping professions.
- Demonstrated history of effectiveness with a broad variety of learners, including those on the Autism spectrum.
- Track record of effective communication with colleagues, parents and supervisors.
- Understanding of fundamentals and procedures of effective therapeutic services,
including awareness of evidence-based approaches.
- Demonstrated commitment to abiding by ethical standards of practice.
- Willingness to work within a multidisciplinary environment with an attachment and strengths-based approach.
- Priority will be given to applicants with experience working with kids/youth ages 2.5 to 13 and/or ongoing continuing education in psychology, psychotherapy, social work, early childhood education, or behavioural therapy.
Experience
- Education in one of the following or in process of obtaining: Behavioural Science Technology Diploma, Autism Behavioural Science Certificate, Child & Youth Worker Diploma, Developmental Services Worker, Early Childhood Education Diploma or Degree, or a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for providing a safe space for children and youth of all ages and abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
