One of our most popular programs is Camp Bonaventure, a fun, outdoor, fully inclusive summer day camp for youth ages 4-17. Job Overview

As a Camp Counsellor , you will be responsible, along with up to five other Camp Counsellors, for the direct supervision of up to ten Campers. You will be placed in an age group before Camp starts, and you may have the opportunity to work in different groups throughout the summer. As a team, you are responsible for planning and implementing inclusive, engaging, and fun programming. Camp Counsellors are responsible for ensuring Campers' needs are met and have a fun and fulfilling camp experience. This position directly reports to the Senior Counsellor for the respective age group.

Key Responsibilities

- Responsible for the direct care and supervision of Campers within a ratio of 1:3 to 1:4.
- Effectively plan and implement program activities, ensuring they are of the highest standards of quality and safety, including but not limited to age appropriateness, variety of activities, and adaptability to different abilities.
- Provide the highest standard of personal care and support to Campers.
- Effectively support Campers with additional behavioral needs.
- Communicate professionally and consistently with parents/guardians, support workers, and family members.




- Follow up with the Senior Counsellor in the event of any emergency situations.

- Caring – You welcome and celebrate people with empathy and dignity. You value working with individuals to create adaptations and modifications to ensure an inclusive experience for all, including support for lifts, transfers, and personal care.
- Easeful – You strive to create accessible and inclusive spaces that remove barriers. You have experience adapting activities and programming to meet diverse needs and have your own vehicle during working hours.
- Safe – You are committed to creating and maintaining safe spaces to promote inclusion and fun. You must pass a screening process, including a background check and a CPR Level C certification, before the start date.

Overview Of Working Hours

- Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week (may vary based on organizational needs).
- Regular Schedule: Primarily 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday‑Friday; some evenings/weekends may be required (e.g., camp clean‑up, staff meetings).
- Mandatory Training: June 22 – 25, 2026, typically from 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM (schedule provided closer to start date).
- Camp Dates: Camp Bonaventure runs from June 29, 2026 – August 21,



2026 (excluding statutory holidays).

Job Requirements

- Must be aged 18‑30 (due to funding requirements).
- Must pass the screening process, including a background check.
- Must be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen.
- Must provide proof of current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification prior to the start date.
- Must adapt to changing circumstances, participant needs, and organizational goals.
- Must have flexibility, as priorities and resources may shift in non‑profit work.
- Must provide support to participants requiring lifts, transfers, and personal care.
- Previous experience working with people with disabilities is an asset.
- Reliable transportation is required.
- Passion for the mission of supporting persons with disabilities.
