About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its ambitious capital expansion and organizational growth. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing vision, guidance, and practical support to ensure the effective execution of the organization's mission. This includes overseeing a wide range of areas such as horticulture, conservation, education, financial management, marketing, and the expansion project. The role demands a leader with a strong background in horticulture, nature-based education, or plant science and conservation, and a proven track record in growing and managing a mid-sized organization. Key responsibilities for the Executive Director at the company include fostering a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, leading a team of over 30 staff and hundreds of volunteers, and managing a significant annual operating budget and a multi-phase capital projects budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in change management, business development, and multi-source fundraising,



as well as a demonstrated commitment to the mission of botanic gardens. They should possess robust leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills, and be adept at managing relationships with government authorities, donors, and other stakeholders.

The ideal candidate for the Executive Director position at the company will have a background in horticulture, nature-based education, or plant science and conservation, with a focus on landscape-based conservation. They should be experienced in not-for-profit finance, team building, and have a strong understanding of revenue generation and expense management. A collaborative leadership style, integrity, and the ability to build and manage a diverse team are essential. The candidate should also have a proven track record in strategic and diplomatic management, particularly in relation to government and regulatory authorities. A degree in a relevant field is required, with a preference for candidates holding a Master's or Doctoral degree. Experience in marketing, communications, and collections management, as well as membership in relevant professional associations, is also desirable.
