Become a pivotal part of education as an Indigenous Education Counsellor for Grades K-12 in Cranbrook & Elk Valley. This full time position focuses on addressing Indigenous student needs.
As a District Indigenous Education Counsellor, you will serve the diverse communities within School District No. 5 (Southeast Kootenay). Candidates should hold a Master's Degree in Counselling or Psychology and possess K-12 teaching experience. Preference will be given to qualified individuals of Indigenous ancestry who have relevant training.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver tailored counselling services to students
• Advocate for Indigenous education initiatives
• Foster relationships with students and families
• Work collaboratively with educational staff
• Engage in ongoing personal and professional growth
Requirements:
• Master’s Degree accredited in Counseling or Psychology
• Formal teaching experience at the K-12 level
• BC Teacher Certification preferred
• Understand Indigenous ways of being and health
• Excellent communication and relational skills
Utilize your counselling expertise to support the educational journeys of students in the Cranbrook & Elk Valley area.
