Elevate First Nations initiatives as a Strategic Advisor at the Assembly of First Nations. This permanent, full time role in Ottawa offers the chance to lead strategic development in economic growth, infrastructure, and fisheries. The Assembly of First Nations (AFN) seeks a Strategic Advisor to enhance its Economic Development & Infrastructure Branch.
This senior role, reporting to the Senior Director, focuses on providing high-level strategic guidance and policy development. Candidates will utilize their expertise in economics and strategic planning to shape initiatives that are in line with First Nations' priorities. Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement strategic plans for economic and infrastructure projects
Analyze policy matters; ensure alignment with AFN's mission
Monitor trends affecting First Nations; advise on responses
Mentor staff and support a culture of strategic thinking
Spearhead communication strategies to convey policy positions Requirements:
Postgraduate degree in related field preferred
7–10 years of senior-level experience in strategy or policy
Deep understanding of First Nations contexts
Proven track record of team-oriented strategic initiatives
Excellent communication and leadership skills Contribute to advancing First Nations priorities in a role that requires strategic insight and policy expertise.
