This role at the Olympic Oval, part of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology, is pivotal for operations during busy periods. Reporting to the Team Lead, you’ll leverage your mechanical aptitude while ensuring that facilities remain functional and safe for world-class athletes and the community. Regular communication and relationship-building with staff and athletes are crucial in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure ice surfaces are properly maintained and operational
• Record mechanical issues, informing relevant staff immediately
• Train and supervise part-time employees
• Open and manage facility operations effectively
• Engage in safety protocols and emergency response
Requirements:
• Background in recreation facility management or significant relevant experience
• Valid First Aid, CPR, and safety certifications
• Aptitude for mechanical systems and ice-related equipment
• Proven experience in high-performance facility operations
• Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment
