Overview

GFL Environmental is looking for an Excavator Operator to join our team in Delta, British Columbia. As an operator you will safely operate an excavator, bale, load and move material.

Responsibilities
Operate an excavator to bale and load soil or other material in the yard.
Perform inspection and maintenance checks of equipment daily.
Grease/lubricate equipment and check and add fluids daily.
Operate, steer, guide, and drive the listed equipment at the assigned site using controls as applicable.
Substitute for another operator as needed.
Clean trash from tracks of heavy equipment by removing material from tracks and gear mechanisms at least daily (more as needed).
Use a two-way radio to communicate with co-workers in the field and/or office regarding work activities and priorities.
Attend safety and branch meetings.
Work in outdoor settings 100% of the time.
Conform to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience.




Ability to obtain Operations Certification if needed.
Must be able to frequently lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
Must have reliable transportation to travel between work sites.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including day or afternoon shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed.
A robust team player with the ability to follow instructions, adhere to safety guidelines, and work effectively with others.
Ability to safely work at elevated heights.
Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located; visa sponsorship is not provided.
