The Substation Studies

Engineer is responsible for performing power system analyses to support the planning, design, operation, and expansion of transmission and distribution substations. As a substation studies engineer, you will develop and validate system models, perform technical studies, evaluate equipment performance, and provide recommendations to ensure reliable and compliant operation of the power system and substation design. Perform power system studies including load flow, short‑circuit, insulation coordination (including switching and lightning, GIS Transient overvoltage analyses), temporary overvoltage (TOV), arc flash, grounding, and protection coordination studies.

Develop and review power system models and conduct analyses to support the planning, design, operation,



and expansion of transmission and distribution substations. Support substation design and engineering projects by establishing, reviewing, and validating equipment ratings, specifications, and technical requirements. Prepare technical reports and present study results to internal and external stakeholders.

Support system studies project(s) throughout the whole lifecycle (i.e., from the technical bid/proposal to execution, reports, client meetings/presentations, to close‑out). Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution. Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
