Senior Employee Relations Advisor - Temporary 6 Months Location: Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada Salary Range: $43.68 - $62.14 Hourly Work Arrangement: Hybrid (minimum 8 days in a 4‑week period at office, remaining remote in BC) Position Highlights: The Employee Relations department is hiring a Senior ER Advisor to join their team in Burnaby. As a Senior ER Advisor, you will provide technical expertise on a wide range of labour relations issues to management, excluded staff and Human Resources.
Responsibilities - Conduct or provide guidance on workplace investigations.
Consult and advise management and HR on a wide range of labour‑related subjects.
Identify, interpret, and apply relevant policies, collective‑agreement articles, case law, and legislation.
Negotiate with union representatives to resolve disputes prior to formal grievance whenever possible.
Investigate, research, and analyze labour‑relations issues; conduct grievance hearings and prepare cases for arbitration.
Develop strategies, gather evidence, conduct interviews as applicable, and write documentation.
Act as a technical resource on corporate projects to provide a labour‑relations perspective on planned activities, programs, and initiatives.
Requirements - Undergraduate degree (Human Resources Management,
Business Administration, Law, etc.) and/or a professional designation (CPHR, CBABC, etc.). A master’s degree in Industrial Relations is an asset.
Minimum 3 years of direct/indirect experience advising on employee relations to senior leadership and HR teams.
Deep experience applying principles, concepts, practices, and methods of the labour‑relations field.
Ability to coach and advise on collective‑agreement and corporate/HR policies and procedures.
Sound knowledge of relevant acts, legislation, regulations, and case law for technical advice.
Experience in conflict resolution for complex labour‑relations issues in large, complex organizations.
Ability to conduct detailed research and present evidence at grievance and arbitration hearings.
Solid analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and top‑notch communication—both spoken and written—translating technical jargon to non‑technical audiences.
