NAIT’s Welding program
NAIT’s Welding program combines advanced technical knowledge, welding skills, and exposure to modern technologies to give a graduate the competitive edge into a career in welding. From skills in fabrication to product innovation and inspection methods, students will gain foundational skills that are in demand by industry. The successful candidate will be an energetic, empathetic, and student focused instructor with a demonstrated commitment to motivating learners and supporting academic achievement. They will bring strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, along with proven experience delivering adult education in a postsecondary or skills‑based learning environment. Proficiency with a variety of computer programs and systems, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, is essential. The successful candidate will also possess solid and relevant industry experience and will be committed to championing student success through academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in classroom and laboratory settings
- Organize and supervise practical assignments
- Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
- Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
- Evaluate the learning process and provide meaningful feedback to students
- Respond to student issues
- Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
- Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students and colleagues
- Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Academic Model as identified by the institute
- Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
- Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
- Participate in course reviews, program reviews and curriculum development
- Maintain contact with relevant industries
Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive, respectful relationships with diverse learners and colleagues
- A strong commitment to student success, including motivating learners and supporting academic achievement
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, suitable for instructional, advisory, and collaborative settings
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and related educational technologies
- Proficient with the following welding processes: SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, AQC/AQW, MCAW and SAW
- Proficient in the delivery of welding theory and related subject matter
Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Completion of Alberta Welding Journeyperson certificate or provincial equivalent required
- Inter-Provincial Red Seal preferred Alberta B-Pressure Welders qualification an asset
- Minimum 5 years of recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson certificate
- Welding in the pressure vessel and piping industry an asset
- Previous instructional experience would be an asset
- Flexible schedule as operational needs require
- Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services (WES), International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) or the Comparative Education Services (CES)
Remuneration
Remuneration: Refer to salary range noted on this posting, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Will commensurate with education and experience. Note: starting salary for new instructor hires average mid‑range based on education and experience. Remuneration for part‑time positions will be pro‑rated based on FTE (full‑time equivalent). The compensation range for this job posting is : $69,189.78 - $120,361.23 NAIT is committed to a transparent, fair,
