Position Summary

LOCAL Industrial Partners is seeking a full-time Demolition Equipment Operator based out of Calgary, Alberta. This position requires travel throughout Western Canada to support demolition, decommissioning, and industrial projects across a variety of sectors.

The Demolition Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and productive operation of heavy equipment used in demolition, material processing, site preparation, and metal recycling activities. The successful candidate will be safety-focused, mechanically inclined, and capable of working independently while contributing to a high-performing project team.

This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging and rewarding projects throughout Western Canada while operating modern, specialized demolition equipment.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely operate excavators, loaders, material handlers,



and other heavy equipment used in demolition and decommissioning projects.
- Operate specialized demolition attachments including hydraulic shears, grapples, magnets, pulverizers, and hydraulic hammers.
- Complete pre-operational, post-operational, and routine equipment inspections while reporting maintenance concerns promptly.
- Perform demolition, structural dismantling, material handling, and site preparation activities in accordance with project plans.
- Process, sort, load, and prepare recyclable materials and demolition debris for transportation and recycling.
- Work closely with supervisors and project teams to complete work safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
- Participate in daily toolbox meetings, hazard assessments, and safety discussions.
- Follow all company policies, client requirements, environmental regulations, and occupational health and safety legislation.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional worksite.
- Assist with general site duties as required to support project completion.

Qualifications

- Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy equipment in demolition, construction, mining, industrial maintenance, heavy civil construction, or related industries.
- Proven experience operating excavators, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment.
- Experience operating demolition attachments such as hydraulic shears, grapples, magnets, pulverizers, or hydraulic hammers is considered a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of demolition methods, material handling, and safe work practices.




- Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify equipment deficiencies and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and knowledge of applicable OH&S; legislation, lockout/tagout procedures, hazard assessments, and proper PPE requirements.
- Ability to read and follow site drawings, lift plans, and supervisor instructions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work safely in physically demanding outdoor and industrial environments under varying weather conditions.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout Western Canada and work away from home for extended periods as required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (Class 1 or Class 3 is considered an asset).
- Valid safety certifications applicable to the role (CSTS, WHMIS, First Aid, Ground Disturbance, or equivalent) are considered assets.
- Experience working on mine sites, industrial facilities, mills, or heavy industrial projects is considered an asset.
- Experience in the metal recycling industry is considered an asset.
