The Chance

Our client is looking for a Controller to take full ownership of the finance function during this period of rapid growth. This is a hands-on role — the successful candidate will need to be comfortable working in the details of the business day-to-day, while also building out the processes, controls, and reporting needed to support continued expansion.

There is currently a fractional CFO in place, but the business has outgrown that arrangement and is now looking for a permanent, full-time senior finance leader.

Responsibilities
Provide strong financial leadership during a period of rapid growth and project expansion
Oversee all financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting
Lead project accounting, job costing, WIP reporting, revenue recognition, and margin analysis




Partner closely with project managers and operational leaders to provide transparent financial insight and performance analysis
Develop robust financial controls and scalable processes to support continued growth
Drive process improvements across finance and operational workflows
Implement and optimize financial systems, reporting tools, and internal controls

Reporting structure:
Reports directly to the ownership group
An Accounting Manager and a Senior Accountant, both working remotely, will report into this position

What Our Client Is Looking For
Designated CPA with experience in the construction industry
Willing and able to work in the weeds and stay close to day-to-day detail, not just oversee from a distance
Comfortable working in a jobsite office workplace and engaging with a hands-on, blue-collar workforce
A direct, confident communication style that fits a fast-paced, entrepreneurial ownership group
Experience with a company at $50M+ revenue, ideally one going through rapid growth
Entrepreneurial mindset
Equally comfortable communicating with crews onsite as with senior executives
A genuine interest in building and sophisticating a finance function, not just maintaining one already in place
