Job Summary

Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Dietary Aide/Cook, where you will play a vital role in delivering nutritious, appealing meals to our Elders. This position combines culinary skills with compassionate Elder care, ensuring that dietary needs are met with professionalism and enthusiasm. You will work in a dynamic setting that values teamwork, attention to detail, and a passion for promoting well-being through quality food service.

Responsibilities
Prepare and serve meals according to established menus, dietary guidelines, and safety standards
Assist with meal planning, portion control, and food presentation to enhance Elder satisfaction
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and dining areas in compliance with health regulations
Collaborate with nursing staff and dietitians to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions
Monitor food inventory levels, assist with ordering supplies, and ensure proper storage of ingredients
Support Elders during meal times, offering friendly assistance and ensuring a positive dining experience
Follow all safety procedures related to food handling, equipment use, and infection control protocols

Qualifications




Previous experience working in a Long term care or healthcare setting required
Experience cooking large quantities as well as specialized diets required in personal care homes is an asset
Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently in a quick-paced environment
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and Elders
Mechanical knowledge related to kitchen equipment maintenance is beneficial
Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Food Handling certificate is required
Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays
Must be able to write, read and speak English
