Aviva Canada Inc. has an exciting opportunity in our Small Medium and Enterprise (SME) commercial insurance business unit. Our Calgary branch is seeking a Commercial Lines P&C; Underwriter at an intermediate level. What you’ll do - Underwrite new and renewal Core & Mid‑Market P&C; accounts within delegated authority, ensuring profitable growth.
Assess moderate to moderately complex risks and recommend terms, conditions, and pricing.
Prepare referrals for risks outside authority with clear recommendations.
Build and maintain broker relationships; participate in broker/insured meetings to support current business and renewals.
Monitor market conditions and apply underwriting guidelines consistently.
Maintain accurate documentation, portfolio quality, and compliance.
Support junior staff through basic coaching when needed. What you’ll bring - 3+ years of P&C; underwriting experience; CIP preferred or in progress.
Robust understanding of underwriting fundamentals, pricing, and policy wording.
Proficiency with underwriting systems, rating tools, and Microsoft Office.
Solid communication, relationship‑building, and problem‑solving skills.
