Under the supervision of the field trial agronomists, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the management and maintenance of canola and pulse research plots in Edmonton and surrounding area.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist with cultivating, spraying, and harvesting
Operation of small plot research equipment including sprayers, tillers and combines
Load and transport equipment to different site locations
Basic maintenance of small plot equipment
Assist with field note taking throughout the growing season using data collection software
Follow all company safety and standard operating procedures
To be considered for this position, you should:
Have, or be in the process of completing, a degree or diploma in agricultural science or a related field
Have experience operating a truck and 5th wheel trailer
Demonstrate valuable attention to detail
Be comfortable working in an outdoor workplace
Be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required during spraying and harvest
Be willing to work independently or as part of a team
Possess very valuable written and verbal communication skills
Have experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email
Possess a valid Class 5 driver’s license
Have a minimum of 3 years vehicle insurance history
Previous research or farm experience an asset
Be able to lift up to 25 kgs
Be legally entitled to work in Canada
Salary will be competitive, based on experience.
