What You Will Do
- Customer Service: Respond to customer needs, inquiries and requirements in a professional, prompt, respectful and courteous manner always.
- Performance Requirements: Diligently respond to work orders, assignments and other work requests in a timely manner consistent with the response and rectification times outlined in the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement ("FMSA") or as otherwise directed by management.
- Teamwork: Work with other maintenance staff, management, hospital staff and contractors, as and when required, in a cooperative, efficient and respectful manner to complete assigned work.
- Safety: Perform all duties in a safe, diligent and careful manner, and in strict compliance with company and site‑specific occupational health and safety policies, rules and requirements.
- Housekeeping and Clean‑Up: Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times consistent with good housekeeping practices.
- General Maintenance: Perform maintenance, inspection and repair work on all facilities and systems within the scope of work defined by the Facility Maintenance Services Agreement ("FMSA") as and when required, directed or assigned, consistent with skills, abilities and training.
How You Will Do It
- Receive, update, and complete assigned preventive and demand maintenance work orders within the CMMS ("QFM").
- Respond to and rectify assigned tasks in general facility services, equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry.
- Source, plan and organize required tools and materials for day‑to‑day tasks and projects.
- Use building prints, schematics and other available documents while troubleshooting system failures and work requests.
- Apply working knowledge of building systems and operate a variety of hand tools and machines.
- Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and comply with all company policies.
- Accurately maintain/complete all equipment logbooks and maintenance records as required. Assist in the implementation of preventive maintenance (PM) program, ensuring deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated with related documentation maintained.
- Participate in and assist with facility‑related project work.
- Work with subcontractors on equipment repair, preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Recommend spare parts and supply purchases for facility equipment.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required
- Completion of a two‑year technical degree or equivalent plus two years of experience in a facility maintenance environment (other combinations of experience and qualifications may be considered).
- Working knowledge of building systems, troubleshooting, repair and replacement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Physically able to perform basic maintenance tasks to a high standard, including ability to climb ladders,
operate machinery and lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work varying shifts (including night shifts), weekends and holidays on a rotational schedule; regular evening and weekend work and 12‑hour shifts may be required.
- Good understanding of mechanical and electrical systems in a large facility.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Working knowledge of computers and handheld devices.
- Positive, professional disposition and willingness to cooperate with co‑workers and supervisors; contribution to a project team.
- Strong client‑service orientation and high sense of urgency.
- Ability to succeed in a dynamic, changing team environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of JCCLP and client‑related business activities.
- Reports to the Operations Manager(s) on duty.
- Receives and follows work direction from Central Dispatch Services (CDS) and designated Lead Hands.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- This is a unionized position. Successful candidates must be willing to join the union as a condition of employment and comply with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
Preferred
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Metasys knowledge.
- Education in Building Environment Systems I and II.
- Experience with Life Safety systems (fire panels, duress stations).
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $35.07 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Perks are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. Exceptional candidates with unique skills may be offered a higher rate. The company may use technology‑assisted tools, including artificial intelligence, to help identify and evaluate candidates. All hiring decisions are ultimately made by human reviewers.
